Nottingham is now a Science City

The Government has given us that title along with only five other cities in the UK - York, Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle and Birmingham.

This recognises the outstanding nature of past achievements and present strengths in science in Nottingham. It provides a great opportunity to build a distinctive future where our economic success is increasingly based on science and technology. Already, there are lots going on to take advantage of the science we have in the city. But there is much more that can be done.

We want to be an even more important international centre for science research; we want more local businesses to benefit from this; and we want more local people to have exciting and well paid jobs – not just the “boffins in white coats”, but successful careers in technician and other support activities.
