A brave party of greentech travellers braved the January cold to explore one of Nottinghamshire’s most successful sustainable housing developments. The visit to Blueprint’s Green Street 38-home scheme in The Meadows was organised by the GreenTech Business Network and coincided with the launch of the scheme’s third phase. Construction of Green Street’s three- and four-bedroom townhouses began in January 2010 and buyer response quickly confirmed that there is keen market demand for contemporary housing with renewable energy and high efficiency features. All the homes have PV panels on the roof and achieve level 4 in the Code for Sustainable Homes through features such as air tightness and insulation. Properties in the first two phases were quickly snapped up last summer and the nine homes in Phase 3 were purchased within three days of going on the market. The visiting party, which included representatives from E.ON, British Gas and regional domestic solar suppliers such as Powerpac, were given a detailed tour of the Green Street show home by Blueprint sales and marketing director John Long. The lunchtime event was followed by coffee and networking at a nearby venue.
